The Discovery
Situated just across the road from the hotel is Discovery Point – which is a world class visitor attraction which centres round Captain Scott of the Antarctic’s Dundee built ship RRS Discovery. Visitors are welcome to climb aboard and follow in the footsteps of Scott and his crew, see how they lived, what they ate and witness their hardships and triumphs.
V&A Museum
The V&A Museum is located opposite Sleeperz Hotel Dundee allowing easy access for our guests. The world class architectural structure of this building is a must see before entering the first ever design museum to be built in the UK outside London. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate Scotland’s design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent and encourage design innovation for the future.
Verdant Works
Just a 15-minute walk from our Hotel takes you to the beautifully refurbished Mill building which tells the story of Dundee’s industrial textile heritage. In an atmospheric setting, hear the tales of the mill workers, see how they lived and worked in an industry which enveloped Dundee. Explore the amazing building, see (and hear) the machines at work, and step back to a time where the Mills were the heart of Dundee.
Dundee Law
A 1.5-mile journey from the hotel will bring you to this 572-foot peak landmark. This volcanic sill offers spectacular views extending on a clear day to almost 45 miles! With “Fact Panels” and recently refurbished paths and steps, you can easily explore the site while learning fascinating historical, archaeological and environmental information.
Broughty Castle
Located 4.3 miles from Sleeperz Hotel Dundee is the fascinating 15th century coastal fort – Broughty Castle. Discover the people, environment, history and wildlife of Broughty Ferry as well as the fantastic museum. Be sure to check out the Orchar Gallery, featuring a selection of paintings from the amazing Orchar Collection and don’t forget to see if you can spot a dolphin or two from the observation post overlooking the River Tay.
HMS Unicorn Frigate
Just a quick 15-minute walk you can visit HMS Unicorn, of 46 guns, which was built for the Royal Navy and launched in 1824. Unicorn is one of the world’s most remarkable historic ships and preserved as a museum and visitor attraction in Dundee with four atmospheric decks for visitors to explore. She is now the World’s last intact warship from the days of sail, one of the six oldest ships in the world and Scotland’s only representative of the sailing navy.
Camperdown Park
Situated 4 miles from our Hotel is Camperdown Country Park. With the stunning neo-classical Camperdown House as its centre-piece, the park covers an area of over 400 acres, and is home to no fewer than 190 species of trees. One of the most popular parks in Dundee, among locals and visitors alike, Camperdown is open all year round and offers a fantastic range of activities and events.
Botanic Gardens
A 2.3-mile trip is all that’s needed to arrive at The University of Dundee Botanic Garden. Located near the banks of Scotland’s longest river, the Tay, its exceptional setting, stunning southerly views and sheltered surroundings makes the Garden one of the top visitor attractions in East Central Scotland. Botanic Gardens offer an extensive variety of collection of conifers, broad-leaved tress, shrubs, tropical and temperate glasshouses.
Olympia Leisure Centre
Why not start your active day out with a short 0.5 mile walk to one of Scotland’s newest leisure pools. Thrill seekers can try out the 4 innovative flumes, with the bravest of all daring to try the cannonball with its 3.8m drop. The leisure pool also includes a rapid river, waves and bubble beds. Younger children can look forward to splashing around in the toddler’s pool with smaller slides and fun interactive features. This bright & modern venue is also home to a 50m swimming pool, an extensive fitness studio, fitness classes and a public café.
Dundee Rep Theatre
Just around the corner from us is Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre. Founded in 1939, the Rep building is a centre of creative energy, a space for engagement with a wide range of art forms, whilst also playing a lead role in arts education and engagement across the city and beyond. Proud of its Scottish roots, the Company looks outwards, producing dance and theatre of national and international significance, for and with a diverse audience.
Dundee Science Centre
If science is your thing, a short 5-minute walk will take you to Dundee Science Centre- a charity and lifelong learning resource for the community. Exhibitions are open 363 days per year, providing an inspiring, hands-on learning experience for everyone to visit.
